Message from the SASFA president on the 5th national play offs of the Metropolitan SASFA U/16 cup

Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.
Henry Ford

We are all looking forward to a wonderful time filled with surprises, misses and adrenal pumping display of football leading to Saturday when the 5th champion school will be crowned. The Local Working Committee has assured us that all logistics have been put in place for a smooth and incident free tournament. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Polokwane Municipality, the Department of Education, Department of Sport & Culture for opening all the roads and doors as we usher in this chapter of the Metropolitan SASFA U/16 National Finals.

We cannot phantom the reality that time flies as we mark & celebrate the 5th chapter of this prestigious Metropolitan SASFA U/16 Cup a catalyst for social cohesion and nation building. This is the birth place of many dreams and today belongs to all the youngsters gathered here to grab this wonderful excellent chance to shine following the rhythm embodied in your veins.

As we reflect on the rear view mirror a lot of smiles due to the fact that we have noted a number of players that began their professional football career here just like all the boys gathered here in this football Mecca proudly brought to you by our esteemed partners Metropolitan who have more than 20 years experience in grass roots football. SA Schools Football Association recognises and appreciates this partnership. From top of the hat we are proud to mention Thabo Moloi & Gino Moeketsi who are now in the 1st team of Super Sport United, yesterday they were just like you in this very tournament.  We are also proud to note some of the protégés of this dynamic tournament that are plying their skills in the NFD & PSL. They are Jerry Mxabo, Daylkon Appolis, Brandon Joshua [Cape Town FC], Cebo Meyiwa [Sivutsa FC]; Sinethemba Ngidi [Vasco Da Gama], Ronwen Williams [Super Sport United], Lerato Manzini  [Bloemfontein Celtics, just to name a few. This opportunity belongs to you as well as a young player participating at these games. Here is a chance grab it.

In life, as in football,
you won’t go far unless you know where the goalposts are.
Arnold H. Glasow

As champions of youth development we are further excited to note that two of our regular champion schools competing in the Metropolitan SASFA Under 16 Cup, Rosina Sedibane & Sol Plaatje were nominated in the SA Sport Awards in the category of Sport School of the year. This shows the depth of our programmes that seek to bring a smile on the faces of the year as well as to build bridges as we groom the African Champions.

Talk with your pads, play with your heart
