St MARKS COLLEGE MAKES A GREAT ENTRY IN THE SASFA U/16 CUP

The historic Ka Nyamazane Stadium was a perfect hunting ground and stage to prove determination, courage, winning spirit whilst at the same time promoting fair play during the Mpumalanga leg of the SASFA U/16 Cup this past weekend.

 

 

 

It was also historic that all the teams participating in the championship were advancing for the first time ever and this is a clear indication that there is growth of the sport as the previous champions were eliminated in the earlier phases of the tournament.

 

 

 

“We have stated that this age group of U/16 16’s is an important phase for the youngsters as it helps leap them forward to the ranks of serious competitive sport or they will ply their skills in the enjoyment social football circles. It is our considered view that as we promote education through sport we are also addressing the issue of transformation, development, access and excellence” said Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko SASFA President.

 

 

 

The teams were playing a round robin whereby the two teams with the highest number get the opportunity to advance to the National Finals. In this case St Marks accumulated 9 points, followed by Machaye with 6 points , Piet Retief Combined achieved 3 points whilst Ubuhlebethu achieved nil in all aspects
