McDonald’s U14 Schools League Reveals “Small teams, Big dreams” Coaches

In continuing its commitment to Develop Dreams of young South Africans at grassroots level, McDonald’s SA has partnered with South Africa’s renowned soccer legends to be part of the McDonald’s U/14 Schools League 2017 under the theme “Small teams, Big dreams’’.

 

The “Small Teams, Big Dream” coaches will train and develop coaches that have direct contact with the U/14 players in schools at all nine provinces. The coaches will be led by Khabo Zondo who is the Head Coach and each coach will be dedicated to a province to run coaching clinics from district games leading up to the national finals. The coaches are:

 

•Doctor Khumalo – GP and NW

•Mark Williams – WC, EC and NC

•Phil Masinga – Free State and KZN

•Siphiwe Mkhonza – Limpopo and Mpumalanga

•Tebogo Mokoena – National Finals

 

Speaking at the launch, Daniel Padiachy, Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s SA said “We are excited to introduce ‘The Small teams, Big dreams” coaches and we are looking forward to uncovering great football skills and talent throughout the league. McDonald’s always strives to support and nurture talent at grassroots level and promote active-balance lifestyle in the communities we serve.”

 

Now in its 8th year, in partnership with South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), McDonald’s U/14 Schools League 2017 continues with soccer festivals where provincial teams will travel to selected provinces and play their finals.

 

The President of the South African Soccer Football Association, Mandla Shoes Mazibuko, said: “We are grateful for our longstanding partnership with McDonald’s and their dedication to the development of grassroots football. This year’s edition will be no different as we will continue producing stars of tomorrow who be the pride of the nation that will don the national team jersey and make strides in different leagues across the globe.   

 

The McDonald’s u/14 league launch took place at FNB Soccer Stadium on 6 April 2017.

 

 

 

The following provinces will host the soccer festivals: 

 

•Limpopo host Mpumalanga , 05 August 2017

•Gauteng host North West , 12 August 2017

•Free State host  KZN, 26 August 2017

•Eastern Cape hosts Northern Cape and Western Cape, 09 September 2017 

•The national finals will take place on the 5-7 October 2017.
